Professional Websites I Like

Some Examples of Current Musicians Websites That I Like:

1) Laufey

Laufey's website facilitates a really cool graphic that turns the cursor into a star which aligns with the house style of her latest release 'Bewitched'.

2) Taylor Swift

Swift's websites are always very well executed as they change house style when the artist proceeds to a new 'era'. Swift always sustains a consistent brand identity through this and never fails to curate consistently appeasing layouts and graphics.

3) Steve Lacy

Lacy has a slightly unconventional website. I like the use of moveable icons where you can dress us Lacy's avatar and the pop-up is something to take note of.

4) Arctic Monkeys

Similar to Swift, Arctic Monkeys have a very appealing and consistent house style.

5) SZA (CTRL) , (SOS)

SZA includes some really entertaining audience interactivity and graphics within her websites that exist separately for each album she has released.

Professional Music Videos I Like

Here are some music videos that I've really been inspired by/ really like:

Harness Your Hopes- Pavement

(This is sort of the epitome of perfect rock/indie music vid, interesting rlevance to Jenkins fandom theory and uses of intertextualtiy)

(1) Pavement- "Harness Your Hopes" (Official Music Video) - YouTube

Jackie Down The Line - Fontaines DC

(Fontaines DC is an Irish contemporary rock band and they have some amazing music videos to check out, definitely great inspo for a rock music video)

(1) Fontaines D.C. - Jackie Down The Line (Official Video) - YouTube

Escargots - JGL

(This is not a music video but an audio visual montage to a French poem, however I love what JGL does here and there are definitely some ideas to be inspired by)

(1) ESCARGOTS - YouTube

Dancing In The Courthouse- Dominic Fike

(great visuals and editing)

(1) Dominic Fike - Dancing In The Courthouse (Official Video) - YouTube

After Hours - The Velvet Underground

(very budget and achievable video, definitely a realistic video to aspire to and admirable with what they're able to execute on a small scale)

(1) The Velvet Underground - After Hours - YouTube

Think Fast - Dominic Fike

(interesting use of close ups, my favourite Fike video and song)

(1) Dominic Fike, Weezer - Think Fast (Official Video) - YouTube

Ant Pile - Dominic Fike

(Great vid, love the slideshow idea)

(1) Dominic Fike - Ant Pile (Official Video) - YouTube

Best Person You Know -Lowertown

(Albeit playing with tones of murder and violence which is probably not appropriate for my NEA coursework, I love some of the artistic choices in this video and especially they way they tell the story through an obviously low budget video)

Initial Ideas

Brief-

I am most drawn to the music video brief because I have previous editing experience and studying music videos is probably my favourite part of the course. Seeing as I chose the magazine brief for GCSE, I am excited by the opportunity to do something different with the music video and have been interested in the idea for a while now.

Ideas-

I'm not too sure what song I am going to choose as of yet, however I have already made a playlist containing many rock songs that I am a fan of including music from Mitski, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Joy Division, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, REM, Weezer, Boa, Pixies and Boygenius.
